We’re happy to be there for you and to help with any questions you may have about restaurants, walking trails, wine tastings or the history of the region. We’re also happy to assist with tips and recommendations when planning excursions, big or small. This ensures a stay that’s not only pleasant but also personally tailored to your needs.

Our guests particularly appreciate the warm, family-like atmosphere in our guesthouse. You’ll feel welcome and almost at home in no time. That’s exactly what makes a stay with us so relaxing and restful.

The Backmann and Lehmann families

The History of Haus Erholung

Welcome to Haus Erholung – now in our second generation, we are delighted to welcome you as our guest.

It all began in 1971: like many people in Cochem, my mother, Hildegunde Lehmann, started renting out individual rooms to guests back then. At the time, my father, Lothar Lehmann, was still running his own plumbing and heating business. Both were hosts through and through, always ready to listen to their guests – and happy to share a glass of wine with them from time to time. Incidentally, thanks to Lothar’s plumbing business, Haus Erholung was the first guesthouse in Cochem where every room had its own bathroom. Over the years, the guesthouse grew and was extended to include the house opposite on the Moselle promenade.

In 2019, we – Andrea and Thomas Backmann – took over Haus Erholung and are continuing to run it in the spirit of Hildegunde and Lothar. Drawing on our experience from our previous careers as an architect and a qualified social education worker, we aim to create a place for anyone seeking relaxation, needing a break from everyday life, or wishing to actively explore the beautiful Moselle region. We’re always on hand to offer advice and assistance – and look forward to helping you get to know our home better.
